Imagine the following scenario. You and the family go for a day at the beach. You park your car, and set up for the day.
What you don’t realise is that you were being watched by a gang of thieves who have decided that your car and valuables look good. They set up close to you, looking like your average beach goer and wait for their opportunity. As soon as you all get up for a swim, they swipe your valuables which you have carefully hidden under a towel, in your sandshoe, or in a bag. You lose your wallets, sunglasses, mobile phones and, worst of all, your car and house keys. This situation is becoming more and more common as thieves target what is considered to be a ‘soft’ option (see news stories).
Yelpie has been designed as a direct result of just that situation on a beach in Australia. The inventor decided that there must be a better way and set about developing a portable electronic safe that would provide increased protection on beaches around the world. Once developed it became apparent that there were many other uses for Yelpie because of our desire to stay in touch and use life’s luxuries wherever we are. This has meant that it is common for expensive items to be left exposed to thieves.
